Q2 2020 Recap: Parolees in Cook County convicted of homicide

There were 68 offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Cook County during the second quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that 54 men and 14 women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, two were veterans, and the median age was 46. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old woman sentenced in 2012, and the oldest was a 76-year-old man sentenced in 1999.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Willie Reese. He was convicted in 1981 when he was 29 years old. He is now 68.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
