3218 Cook County residents 80 or older test positive for COVID-19

As of July 26, there have been 3,218 Cook County residents 80 years of age and older who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There have been 47,429 residents 80 and older in the county who had been tested, meaning that six percent of those tested have the coronavirus. Through July 26, there have been 43,448 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 2,083 deaths from the coronavirus in Cook County.

Illinois gathers all of its COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it's transmission.
