Q3 2019 Recap: Parolees in Melrose Park convicted of crimes against children

There were two offenders convicted of crimes against children released on parole in Melrose Park during the third quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Melrose Park were men. The younger parolee was a 29-year-old man sentenced in 2016. The other was a 34-year-old man sentenced in 2012.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Andrew Morgan. He was convicted of a crime against one or more children in 2016 when he was 25 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
