Village of Franklin Park Senior Commission met Sept. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Lisa Anthony called the September 5 2019 Senior Commission meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.

Members present: Kitty Greenwood, Bernice Brown and Ruth Schwab & Mike Vallone

The minutes of the August 1 2019 meeting were reviewed by the members. Motion by Bernice Brown and seconded by Ruth Schwab to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried and the minutes were accepted.

St. Vincent DePaul Report by Mike Vallone: There have been lots of requests for money this month. The food in the pantry is plentiful, there is enough until we get the food from the Brands Show.

American Legion Report by Mike Vallone: The next pancake breakfast is September 22nd. There was a large turnout for the fundraiser for Jacob Corona.

Relay for Life report by Kitty Greenwood & Bernie Brown : there was a closeout meeting on August 12th due to late notification we didn’t get to attend.

Ruth Schwab reported on a program called GoGo Grandparents. This program allows older adults to utilize companies like Lyft without a cell phone. You can also set up automatic rides for fixed medical appointments. They can text your family members about the progress of your ride.

Lisa informed the members about the upcoming Health Fair on October 18th at North Park from 9am until 1pm. Also about the Eddie Biondo Fall fest Parade on October 6th. Informed them about an Age Friendly Committee she is involved with that helps designate communities as a age friendly and dementia friendly.

The Senior Commission meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
