City of Northlake City Council met Oct. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, GARCIA, JOHNSON, GONZALEZ, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

OTHERS PRESENT: NANCY PAULETTO, CITY CLERK

CAROL LAMPARD, FINANCE DIRECTOR 

MARK STERK, ATTORNEY 

NORM NISSEN, CHIEF OF POLICE 

DALE ROBERTS, SUPERINTENDENT PUBLIC WORKS

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 16, 2019. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 16, 2019; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 CITY COUNCIL MEETING CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to reappoint Joe Klinger to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning and Economic Development Commission; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, GARCIA, JOHNSON, GONZALEZ, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO REAPPOINT JOE KLINGER TO THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS, PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, GARCIA, JOHNSON, GONZALEZ, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO PAY THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone that Council meetings are back on the normal first and third Monday schedule and that Boofest will be held on October 31. Mayor Sherwin then explained some persistent flooding issues in the City that have been a problem almost since its inception in the 1940-50’s., that many flooding issues have been resolved, and that the city engineers would be looking into possible additional solutions.

Several residents came forward and stated their concerns regarding recent flooding issues.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve architectural services at city buildings to meet ADA requirements; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMAN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, GARCIA, JOHNSON, GONZALEZ, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES AT CITY BUILDINGS TO MEET ADA REQUIREMENTS CARRIED

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED

MEETING ADJOURNED 7:52 P.M.
