CITY OF BERWYN: Seniors Owed Millions In Property Tax Exemptions

City of Berwyn issued the following announcement on July 23.

As many as 26,500 senior citizens could save a total of $45 million on their Cook County property tax bills due August 1, 2019, by applying now for exemptions they received last year, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas announced today.

• Please encourage your constituents to verify their property tax exemptions by visiting cookcountytreasurer.com. Select the purple box labeled “Your Property Tax Overview.” They may search by address.

• A copy of the announcement is attached and posted here.

• You may see lists of homeowners in your area who may be missing their senior exemption by visiting cookcountytreasurer.com

• The lists are broken down by Chicago ward, municipality, township, commissioner district and state representative district. The lists include: Property Index Number (PIN), taxpayer name, property address, mailing address and property classification. The information is updated weekly.
