Jan.-June 2018 Recap: Parolees in Bellwood convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Bellwood during the first half of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Bellwood were men. The younger parolee was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2012. The other was a 42-year-old man sentenced in 1997.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Ernest Russell. He was convicted of homicide in 1997 when he was 20 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders during the first half of 2018 who were convicted of homicide.
