Q1 2018 Recap: Parolees in Hillside convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Hillside during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Hillside were men. The younger parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced in 2013. The other was a 44-year-old man sentenced in 1995.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Candido Ublies. He was convicted of homicide in 1995 when he was 19 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
