Berkeley home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Berkeley rose by $33,000 while total sales increased by 3.8%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 81 homes sold, with a median sale price of $183,000 - a 22% increase over the $150,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 78 homes sold in Berkeley in 2016.

The median sales tax in Berkeley for 2017 was $4,582. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,964. This marks an increase of 15.6%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.5%.
