Berkeley home prices rise in the second half of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2017 in Berkeley rose by $29,000 while total sales increased by 2.4%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2017, there were 43 homes sold, with a median sale price of $185,000 - a 18.6% increase over the $156,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 42 homes sold in Berkeley in the second half of 2016.

The median sales tax in Berkeley for 2017 was $4,582. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,964. This marks an increase of 15.6%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.5%.
