The price of local government in 2017: Village of Lyons

The Village of Lyons budget was $33.78 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $10,517 per household.

That's an increase of 6.6 percent from 2016, when the village spent $31.69 million, or $9,867 per household.

Lyons has 3,212 households and a population of 10,585.

Since 2001, the Village of Lyons budget has grown by 177.8 percent, from $12.16 million. The village population has grown 3.2 percent over the same period, from 10,255.

Salaries accounted for 13.8 percent of village spending in 2017. Lyons property taxpayers paid $4.66 million for 42 full-time employees and 110 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 90 full-time employees and eight part-time employees, and spent $4.55 million.
