The price of local government in 2017: Village of Westchester

The Village of Westchester budget was $17.64 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of 16.9 percent from 2016, when the village spent $21.23 million.

Westchester has a population of 8,586.

Since 2001, the Village of Westchester budget has fallen by 36.6 percent, from $27.82 million. The village population has grown 65.6 percent over the same period, from 5,185.

Salaries accounted for 14.3 percent of village spending in 2017. Westchester property taxpayers paid $2.52 million for 42 full-time employees and 58 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 46 full-time employees and 158 part-time employees, and spent $2.70 million.
