Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Jan. 18.
Awareness of hepatitis C is growing. Unlike hepatitis A and B, hepatitis C usually is asymptomatic for a period of 20 to 30 years, making screening extremely important. Treatment options have increased dramatically in recent years, and when the disease is caught before symptoms appear, treatment is extremely effective. The CDC is urging all people born between 1945 and 1965 to be screened. For more information, please call 847.483.7994.
