Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Oct. 21.
AMITA Health Behavioral Medicine Institute would like to congratulate Alexian Brothers Medical Center Psychiatrist, Sachin Bhalerao, DO, for being awarded the 2018 Legacy of Caring Pelican Award for demonstrating the Alexian Spirit exhibiting sensitively and compassion to staff, patients and visitors.
“I nominated Dr. Bhalerao for the Pelican Award because the award criteria is truly who he is— EVERYDAY. He is really an unsung hero for our patients and our team. Congrats Dr. Bhalerao.” - Laurie Miller, Manager of 5W Psych Unit.
The Pelican awards began in 1991 as one way for the Alexian Brothers to thank volunteers, leaders, and physicians for exemplifying the Brothers' Mission and Values. The pelican, a symbol used by the Alexian Brothers Congregation for hundreds of years, represents the sacrifice of Christian charity.
