BROOKFIELD POLICE PENSION FUND: Great Forecast For Bike Brookfield This Saturday!

Bike

Brookfield Police Pension Fund issued the following announcement on May 17.

With the Village’s May 19 Bike Brookfield event two days away, here are a few important updates. First, please click on this link (B2 Route 2018) for an electronic copy of the map showing the 10K Community Ride route. The key activities include the Kids Bike Rodeo at 9:00 AM and Kids Ride at 10:00 AM, followed by the main 10K Community Ride at 11:00 AM. Note that the 10K Ride will be a “soft closure,” with Village’s security team limiting most auto traffic.

Second, current forecasts indicate weather will be great! Even so, we have an emergency plan for the ride in case of EXTREME weather such as tornado, lightning etc. — in which case you would be directed to a shelter by staff — designated shelters include Village Hall. Also, we have a siren alerting riders to any visible lightning that would trigger our emergency plan. If we were to get extreme weather or heavy rain, the make-up date would be May 26.

Third, we are celebrating Brookfield 125thanniversary! Our generous sponsors covered the cost of our t-shirts, which show the 125thlogo on the sleeve. Festivities begin and end at the Village’s oldest building, Grossdale Station (home of our Historical Society). AND, if you have a vintage bike, ride it! We will give extra raffle tickets if you do.

Some helpful hints:

Parking– If you are driving here, please consider parking on the south side of the train line (Burlington Avenue), especially if you are coming from the south to the event. Better yet, ride your bike to the event or take Metra!

Starting Point– The starting and ending point for the 10K Community Ride will be the street directly in front of Grossdale Station/the Brookfield Historical Society located at 8820½ Brookfield Avenue.

Registration and T-Shirt Pickup– The registration table with t-shirts and raffle tickets will be at the Historical Society. It opens at 9:00 AM so come early to avoid the lines.

Don’t forget to stick around for a little “after party.” We will distribute some swag (free water bottles, local business promotions, snacks etc.) to those who finish the ride, and we will award quite a few raffle prizes to raffle winners. You don’t want to miss out on our amazing raffle prizes! – winners must be present.

Please contact Nick Greifer at 708-485-1113 if you have questions. Thank you.
