City of Northlake Youth Commission met April 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Attendance: Sheila Morgan, Sharon Budzon, John Morgan, Veronica Budzon

Absent: Rebecca Morgan

Guests: Francine Patti, Trisha Patti, Robert Budzon

Minutes Of The March 21, 2018 Meeting:

The minutes of the, March 21, 2018 meeting were read. A motion was made by Veronica to accept the minutes. John seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Old Business:

1. Easter Eggs"travaganza - 3/24/18 - 11am-12:30 pm. The event ran very smoothly. We served 282 children. Veteran's Park laid out the gym better so lines for the different activities did not cross each other. We ran out of crafts last year so we bought heavy for this year. Now we have leftovers for next year, but that's okay.

2. Kids' Bingo Night - 4/11/18 - 22 kids and 13 adults attended the event. Sharon and Veronica thought they would have leftover prizes, but we went through them all, because we had a good turnout. Flyers for our Bingo in May were passed out to all parents. Every child also received a craft kit to take home to make a little Mothers' Day gift. They all immediately opened and built them. We actually had to wait to start Bingo because they were all putting them together. That was definitely a hit! The Bingo events attract a younger group of children. This is a great thing. Middle School & High School aged children have many more options for their entertainment. The Elementary School children are a great demographic for us to focus on.

3. Kids' Bingo Night - 5/9/18 - Once again we will run our meeting at 5:30 pm prior to the Bingo at Sandy Vasquez Community Center. John and Sheila will buy prizes this time.

4. Kids' Patriotic Craft Night-6/13/18 - Veronica actually already ordered and received the crafts and raffles. Hopefully this goes over well. We have never had a craft event with this theme. Sharon will make up a flier. Our meeting will be at 5:30pm and the event will be from 6pm - 8pm. This format works well for us. We will continue to schedule events this way whenever possible.

New Business:

1.Kids' Bingo - 7/11/18 - 6-8 pm - This will take place after our 5:30pm meeting at the Sandy Vazquez Community Center.

There was no other business discussed. Sharon moved for adjournment, seconded by Veronica. All were in favor. Youth Commission Chairperson, Sheila Morgan, adjourned the meeting at 5:45 pm.

Next Meeting: May 9, 2018 at 5:30 pm. This will take place at the Sandy Vasquez Community Center prior to the next Kids' Bingo.
