Village of Schiller Park Historical Society met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Society:

Commissioners Present: Daniel R. Sliwicki, June Oulund, Hilde Kilian, Keith Granum

Absent: Bonnie Gardeck, Diana Caffero

Library Representative: Ramona Elgin

Meeting called to order by Dan at 6:35 pm.

Roll call taken and Pledge of Allegiance said.

Motion made to accept February minutes by June seconded by Keith all approved.

Guests: Volunteer Joyce Larsen donated a Polaroid Camera and 8MM movie projector. Jason Erickson helped Brian at the village and is willing to donate his time and skills in updating our Facebook page and other digital chores.

Library Representative: The first graders will visit on May 3, 2018. The topic will be the Potowatomi Indians. The 165 students will be divided into groups. Also the Library will look for the Abe Lincoln in illinois DVD which can be used to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Illinois.

The Library will also be working with Diana Caffero on a digital grant. Tina and Diana will fill out forms with help from Rae who has done previous grant forms. The forms must be in by April 16, 2018, and the subject could be digitalizing the Vesper Collection.

Dan and Keith are continuing their work on mapping with the village. The next group to be studied: Brickyard, Dog Track, Old Robinson House, Monument Works and Tedmann's. When they are finished with the pictures and information it will be added to the mapping project.

Financial Report: We have $3891.13 in our checking account, and $104.11 in cash on hand. From the Open House we received $53 donations.

Motion made by Hilde seconded by Keith for a $25 donation to the kidney Foundation in remembrance of Robert C. Sztuk for his many years of service to our Historical Society. Motion carried unanimously.

Tea Party forms and menus have been made by Mela. Also 34 letters sent out to prior attendees of the Tea Party. The goody bags will be made by Joyce and Keith. Food prices are still being looked into by Bonnie.

We had 32 visitors for the Open House. Next year we will place an announcement in the Neil newsletter. Also start earlier with the flyers.

June has 2 veterans for the Wall of Honor at present. All forms must be in by April.

Motion made to adjourn meeting by June seconded by Keith at 8:00 pm. All agreed.
