Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met February 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Demopoulos, Trustee Flores, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Sarro.

Others in attendance were Attorney Hayes, Administrator Belmonte, Police Chief Garcia, Public Works Director Kutt, Recreation Director Mrozik and Fire Chief Gaertner.

Approval Of Agenda:

Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the agenda as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Appoval Of Minutes:

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Demopoulos to approve the January 15, 2018 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

NayS: None. Motion carried

Report Of Trustees:

Trustee Bianco- ( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)

Trustee Bianco read the following Memo from Administrator Belmonte:

The Village has been informed by John Fitzgerald its engineer of the extras on the Cermak Road Water Main Replacement Project. There are approximately $53,400 of extras which included IDOT Mandated Traffic Control Changes, water main leak on an existing fire hydrant, brick paver removal between 2nd and 3rd Avenue, foundation wall removal by BCT along with some unknown pipe construction. There are also contract deductions of approximately $30,000 which will offset these extras. Mr. Fitzgerald expects the final cost to be around $520,000, the awarded and approved amount was $496,589. Also, the approved engineering amount was $100,000 and because of the extras this amount will be about $5,000 higher. These extras were discussed at the time between Director Kutt, Administrator Belmonte and Engineer Fitzgerald and all agreed these needed to be done.

Trustee Bianco moved and Trustee Demopoulos seconded to approve the extras on the Cermak Road Water Main Project in the amount of $23,400 along with the $5,000 increase in the engineering cost. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion Carried

Trustee Mengoni- ( Finance Health & Appropriations- No report

Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)- No report

Mayoral Report:

Mayor Hermanek gave the following updates from the Community Development Department:

• Presales- The department preformed two single-family and one commercial presale inspection totaling $1,228.00 in revenue.

• Permit Totals- The department issued 25 residential and commercial permits totaling $12,925.50 in revenue.

• Cook County Medical Clinic- Submitted an application for remodeling a portion of the space at 1800 S. Harlem Avenue

• Smart Moves Pediatrics- Submitted an application for a tenant buildout at 7921 W. Cermak Road, Unit #C. Smart Moves Pediatrics provides primary pediatric care to infants, children and preteen adolescents.

Approval Of Bills:

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $566,300.23 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

New Business:

Robert Gill, Dimitri Tountas and Christopher Johnston each took their Oath of Office from Clerk Ranieri as Probationary Firefighters.

Audience:

Barbara Wilson thanked all the departments and congratulated the new firefighters.

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco for adjournment at 7:17 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
