Village of Franklin Park Senior Commission met Oct. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Members present: Bernice Brown, Kitty Greenwood, Ruth Schwab, Mike Vallone, Sheree Victorian.

The minutes of the September 2017 meeting were reviewed by the members. Motion by Ruth Schwab and seconded by Mike Vallone to accept the minutes with the 2 corrections that were noted. Motion carried and the minutes were accepted with the 2 corrections.

St. Vincent DePaul Report by Mike Vallone: Still getting a lot of people every Monday. Last few weeks it has been for monetary help. They are trying to prepare for the influx of people that will be coming in November to receive monetary help with their gas and electric bills.

Mike also brought in fliers for the Christmas Cheer Foundation. The names of people or families are delivered a hot meal on Christmas Day. He asked that we submit names by November so the Foundation can plan accordingly.

American Legion Report by Mike Vallone: The pancake breakfast was on September 24th and was the largest turnout ever. Next pancake breakfast is October 22nd. October 14th will be a Fallen Soldier Dinner in honor of Randall Shelton. The dinner is open to the public and the tickets are $20.00 per person.

Relay for Life report by Kitty Greenwood & Bernie Brown: No report, there has not been a follow-up meeting with the committee since the event in August.

Senior Towers report by Sheree Victorian: The Senior Towers is going to be undergoing a complete renovation and the project has been funded. Each apartment along with the entire floor plan will be completely renovated.

Lisa reminded the members there will be a senior Health fair on October 20th at the police station, and encouraged all to attend if able. Once we receive the fliers we will bring them to the Towers to promote the event.

The Senior Commission meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
