McCook FD responds to 38 fires in 2016

McCook Fire Department responded to 208 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Cook News.

The calls in McCook included 38 fires - 19 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 16 other fires.

In all, the department saw $13,000 in fire loss - or about $342 per fire.

The department also received 170 false calls, including three malicious calls and 167 other false calls.

The Mccook Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has one active employee and retired or inactive employee, was $555 positive as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $15 for every fire in 2016.
