The price of local government: Village of Bellwood

The Village of Bellwood budget was $45.01 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $7,905.58 per household.

That's a decrease of one percent from 2014, when the village spent $45.45 million, or $7,983.08 per household.

Bellwood has 5,693 households and a population of 19,071.

Since 2002, the Village of Bellwood budget has grown by 83 percent, from $24.59 million. The village population has fallen 7.1 percent over the same period, from 20,535.

Salaries accounted for 21.3 percent of village spending in 2015. Bellwood property taxpayers paid $9.59 million for 103 full-time employees and 76 part-time employees.
