Proviso District 209 explains revised admissions process to principals, counselors
Principals and counselors at feeder schools in Proviso Township High Schools District 209 heard presentations recently on the district's revised admissions process, held at the Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy (PMSA).
The changes were made after a series of community meetings last spring.
“Let's tell more people about PMSA and the admissions process so that we can encourage all of our eighth-graders to apply for admissions next year,” PMSA Principal Bessie Karvelas said.
“It was a wonderful experience,” Karvelas said. “They were excited to be a part of the process, and they were ready to go back to their schools with what they learned and share with their community.”
PMSA will host an Admissions Open House event on Thursday, when middle schools within the district will administer the PSAT 8/9. Students who miss their schools' designated testing times and students who attend private schools can take the test Saturday at Proviso West High School or Saturday, Oct. 15, at Proviso East High School.
As a reminder, Oct. 15 is the final day for next year’s freshmen to take the PSAT 8/9 exam.
