What an amazing two days!

On Monday and Tuesday, we met with Stakeholders, not only from Oak Park and River Forest, but also Austin, Maywood, Broadview and the U of I Medical District! Our initial goal was to see how we could best use our upcoming Health & Wellness Fair (HWF), to help the people in our local and surrounding communities. This includes addressing accessibility and education regarding preventative healthcare, especially in those communities it is needed the most. But, these discussions became so much more than that!

Day one included discussions with the Stakeholders for local school districts and the Senior population. We were able to identify some pain points they are dealing with, and discuss some possible solutions, with people at the table who could help.

On day two, we brought heads of hospitals and politicians from the local and a bit farther reaching communities. We discussed some of the issues the communities are collectively facing; access to healthcare, lack of resources, mental health, food & housing insecurity, drug addiction, and started conversations on how best to start addressing these issues.

Thank you to West Suburban Medical Center for hosting these discussions and providing us with delicious food & coffee in the process. Thank you to everyone for joining us, including, RUSH Oak Park Hospital (our Presenting Sponsor for this year’s Health & Wellness Fair), West Suburban Medical Center, Weiss Memorial Hospital, University of Illinois Cancer Center, Loretto Hospital – Chicago, IL, Riveredge Hospital, Chief of Staff for Senate President Don Harmon, Village of Oak Park, Illinois, Village of Broadview, Village of Maywood, Austin Chamber of Commerce, Oak Park and River Forest High School, Oak Park Elementary School District 97, AgeOptions, Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township, The Sheridan at River Forest, Brookdale Oak Park, and to those who worked hard to make these initial discussions a huge success!
