The Village of Western Springs has been honored with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2025 budget. This award marks a significant achievement and demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to adhering to the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

To earn this distinction, the Village had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines evaluate how well an entity’s budget functions as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. The budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories to qualify for the award.

The recognition reflects positively on the efforts of both the municipality and its staff in achieving these standards.
