Village of Brookfield Planning and Zoning Commission met Nov. 20

Attendance:
Present: Miller, Sabourin, Straka, Svoboda, Weber
Absent: Evans, Grund
Also present at Meeting: Trustee Jennifer Hendricks, Community Development Director Libby Popovic, and Village Attorney Tom Halleron.
Commissioner Straka moved to approve Commissioner Svoboda as Chairperson Pro Tem. Commissioner Sabourin seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Public Comment: No members of the public were present.
New Business –
Chair Pro Tem Svoboda entertained a Motion to open the public hearing for Case#25-16 for the revocation of Ordinance 2023-29 Special Use Permit to allow a Cannabis Dispensary at 8863 Ogden Avenue at 7:04 PM Moved by Commissioner Straka and seconded by Commissioner Evans, Motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
Village Attorney T. Halleron, stated that a representative of the property owner who is present spoke with the Village Community Director and the Village Attorney’s office this afternoon. The property owner would like to seek a continuance and if there is no objection, he is here to make his request.
Chris Patel addressed the Commission. As property owners his group is seeking a continuance so that they might be represented by counsel. The Village staff has no objection to the request. L. Popovic stated that the petitioner is reviewing the possibility of a voluntary forfeiture.
There were no questions of Mr. Patel or the Village staff.
Commissioner Miller moved and Commissioner Straka seconded a Motion to continue this Public Hearing to Thursday January 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The Motion passed 4-1 with Commissioners Miller, Svoboda, Straka and Weber voting Aye and Commissioner Sabourin voting nay.
Chair Pro Temp Svoboda entertained a motion to adjourn the Planning and Zoning Commission. Commissioner Miller seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:13 PM
