First Lady Diana Dominick welcomed the Lopez family at the opening of Taquería La Reina in Cicero, expressing support for local entrepreneurs. “Welcome to Cicero,” she said. “This is a beautiful and inviting restaurant. On behalf of my husband, President Dominick, we wish you great success, and we are here to support you with whatever you need.”

Business License Director Ismael Vargas acknowledged the cooperation among various town departments that helped the restaurant meet all requirements before opening. He emphasized the teamwork involved in launching the new business: “This is more than a new restaurant,” Vargas said. “It’s the result of teamwork—between the town, inspectors, our business team, and dedicated owners who bring something special to Cicero. We’re proud to welcome Taquería La Reina to the community.”

Owner Jose Lopez shared his gratitude during the event, joined by his daughter María López and her children at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The family highlighted their culinary tradition that began with their grandparents in Mexico City and now continues through three generations. María López stated, “For 20 years, people have enjoyed our flavors. Everything we serve comes from the heart—from our grandparents to our parents, to us, and now to our children. We’re grateful to bring that tradition to Cicero.”

The Lopez family also operates another restaurant known for authentic Mexican cuisine and chose Cicero as their newest location due to its strong community spirit and loyal customer base. They noted that residents have been supportive since their arrival: “Here in Cicero, people have treated us very well,” they shared. “They’ve helped us, supported us, and we’re very grateful. We’re here to serve this community with the best flavors of Mexico.”

Taquería La Reina features traditional Mexican dishes such as barbacoa, birria, carne en su jugo, menudo, pozole, various caldos including beef and chicken soup as well as grilled meats and daily specials. The owners assure customers that if they are not satisfied with any dish they will not be charged.

After speeches from officials and family members concluded on December 15 at 6026 W. 26th Street in Cicero—a location selected for its welcoming atmosphere—the official ribbon-cutting marked Taquería La Reina’s entry into Cicero’s business community.

The Town of Cicero reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local businesses through collaborative efforts between municipal departments and entrepreneurs.
