City of Northlake City Council met Oct. 6

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMAN STRAUBE

ALDERMAN FELDMANN

ALDERMAN SOSA

ALDERMAN GROCHOWSKI

ALDERMAN PATTI

PRESENT VIA CONFERENCE BRIDGE: ALDERMAN URBINA

ABSENT: ALDERMAN CONTRERAS

ALDERMAN JOHNSON

OTHERS PRESENT: KEN BERES, CHIEF OF POLICE

ISMAEL JIMENEZ, FINANCE DIRECTOR

TONY FACIANO, PUBLIC WORKS

Alderman Feldmann made a motion to approve Alderman Urbina participating in the meeting via conference bridge; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on September 15, 2025. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on September 15, 2025; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL

MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 CARRIED

Chief Ken Beres swore in two new police officers, Liliana Herrera-Reyes and Jordan Wiles.

Alderman Straube made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, SOSA, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMEN CONTRERAS AND JOHNSON

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin stated BooFest is on Friday, October 31st.

Alderman Patti made a motion to remove the No Turn on Red sign currently located on northbound Northwest Avenue at Grand Avenue as it is no longer necessary; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO REMOVE THE NO TURN ON RED SIGN CURRENTLY LOCATED ON NORTHBOUND NORTHWEST AVENUE AT GRAND AVENUE CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-17-2025; A Resolution Approving the 2025 Community Development Block Grant Program Year Agreements with the County of Cook, Illinois for Project Number 2507-006; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor

Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, SOSA, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMEN CONTRERAS AND JOHNSON

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-17-2025; A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2025 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM YEAR AGREEMENTS WITH THE COUNTY OF COOK, ILLINOIS FOR PROJECT NUMBER 2507-006 CARRIED

There was a discussion about a new Ordinance to be created regarding e-bike regulations. It is a work in progress.

A resident had a question about the number of police officers on duty per shift.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by

Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED
