Oak Park and River Forest High School (OPRFHS) will hold its Parent-Teacher Conferences virtually on Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30. The school has partnered with PowerPTC to manage the scheduling process for these remote meetings.

On Wednesday, October 29, students will follow an adjusted bell schedule. Conferences are set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The following day, Thursday, October 30, there will be no classes for students. Conferences are scheduled in two blocks: from 11:18 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and again from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The school building will be closed for students on Friday, October 31.

To participate in the conferences, families must complete two steps using PowerPTC. First, they need to log into their account; only the first parent or guardian listed in Skyward under Family 1 will receive login instructions by email from PowerPTC. Returning users can use their existing credentials while new users must log in before scheduling conferences.

The second step is scheduling meetings with teachers starting at 8 a.m. on October 20 through PowerPTC. Parents can select teachers and timeslots and will receive Google Meet links for each session. Conference sign-up ends at 11:59 p.m. on October 27.

If a teacher’s appointments are full or if a Google Meet link is missing at sign-up time, parents are encouraged to contact teachers directly by email or wait until links become available prior to conferences. Teachers may update meeting links just before conferences begin; parents should use the most current link available in PowerPTC at conference time.

A one-minute transition is built between sessions to keep schedules running smoothly. Teachers have been asked to end meetings promptly and can arrange alternate dates if more discussion is needed.

Families needing help can contact PTC Support by emailing PTC@oprfhs.org.

“We look forward to having you participate in our virtual Parent Teacher Conferences!” said Lynda Parker, Assistant Superintendent/Principal of OPRFHS.

OPRFHS serves grades nine through twelve with an enrollment of about 3,393 students as of the 2019-2020 school year according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Grade ten had the highest concentration of students at that time with approximately one quarter of all enrolled (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolid=060162000130001). The student body during that year was made up of roughly fifty-seven percent white students, eighteen percent black students, thirteen percent Hispanic students, and nearly four percent Asian students (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolid=060162000130001).
