Families gathered along the streets of Cicero on Sunday to mark Mexican Independence Day with the town’s annual parade. The event featured more than 100 floats, representing a range of local businesses, schools, cultural organizations, and community groups. The celebration focused on honoring Mexican heritage and bringing together residents from across the area.
Cicero President Larry Dominick led the parade, accompanied by First Lady Diana Dominick as they rode atop the Special Events Fire Truck and greeted attendees.
“This is one of the greatest events of the year in Cicero,” said President Dominick. “It’s about celebrating family, culture, and community, and I’m proud to see so many people come out to enjoy this tradition together.”
He further recognized the role of Cicero’s Mexican-American community: “Our town is strong because of the families who live here, raise their children here, and share their culture with us. This parade is a way of showing how much we appreciate and respect that.”
The parade route along Cermak Road was filled with music from mariachi bands and performances by traditional dancers. Children waved flags as families watched the festive procession.
