Residents, religious leaders, and local officials gathered at the Cicero Community Center for the annual Community Prayer Day. The event was coordinated with support from Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas and brought together different faith groups to highlight the importance of unity through faith and collective prayer.

Pastor Juan from New Life Community Church in Cicero addressed attendees with a message based on Psalm 133: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony… for there the Lord commands His blessing.” He encouraged the community to pursue unity not only during crises but as a regular practice.

President Larry Dominick offered his gratitude to residents for their ongoing prayers. “There’s no one better than our good Lord,” Dominick said. “I believe in God, I trust in God, and I love God—and I know all of you do too. Thank you for praying for the people of Cicero.”

Senior Center Director Diana Dominick was recognized for her involvement over the years in organizing and promoting Prayer Day among seniors and families. Her efforts helped make this year’s event inclusive and accessible to people of all ages.

“Prayer Day unites our churches and our community in a powerful way, reminding us to be thankful for everything we have in our lives.,” Diana Dominick said. “Let’s carry this spirit of gratitude with us—not just today, but every day.”

Prayers were offered during the event for government leaders at all levels, including local officials. Drawing from 1 Timothy 2:1–2, attendees were asked to pray that elected leaders would act with wisdom, humility, and integrity so that “we may live peaceful and quiet lives in godliness and holiness.”

The program featured bilingual prayers, moments of silent reflection, and messages focused on healing within Cicero’s neighborhoods. Chaplain Vargas commented on the impact of communal prayer: “There’s something powerful about communal prayer,” he said. “When we gather as a community and put God at the center, it sends a message that we are one.”

The gathering ended with a collective prayer asking for protection over first responders, military members, and young people throughout Cicero. Participants left reminded of shared values and encouraged to maintain their faith throughout the year.

“Let’s not forget,” Chaplain Vargas told those present, “this isn’t just a one-time event. Prayer should surround this community all year long.”

The Town of Cicero thanked everyone who participated—including police officers, firefighters, trustees, and residents—who help make Prayer Day an important tradition each year.
