The Cicero Health Department held its annual Back-to-School Health Fair to help local students get ready for the upcoming school year. The event provided essential health services and activities aimed at supporting families in the community.
Cicero Town President Larry Dominick commented on the purpose of the fair, stating, “This is what the community is all about, working together to make sure every child has access to the care they need. Events like this reflect our commitment to the well-being of every Cicero family.”
First Lady Diana Dominick was present at the event, where she welcomed families and expressed gratitude to staff and volunteers who contributed to organizing the fair.
Vanessa Parrish, Director of Operations for the Cicero Health Department, described the event as a way to combine necessary health services with a family-friendly atmosphere. “This is a fun, family-focused day offering free services and activities to help local students start the year strong. It’s about getting kids ready physically and celebrating our community’s commitment to wellness.”
Marissa Buscemi, Director of Clinical Services, highlighted efforts made by staff and volunteers: “Our clinical team and volunteers worked hard to ensure the experience was smooth and welcoming.”
Dr. Katherine Skurski, Medical Director for the Health Department, pointed out that such events play an important role in reducing obstacles faced by families seeking healthcare. “Access to health care shouldn’t be a barrier for any child,” she said. “This event removes that barrier and connects families to the support systems available in Cicero.”
Health Department Director Vanessa Parrish summarized the goal behind hosting these fairs: “Our goal is to make back-to-school easier and healthier for every family.”
