The Town of Cicero, in collaboration with the Illinois Air Team, is offering a week of free vehicle emissions testing for residents. This initiative aims to provide easier access to state services and help residents comply with state regulations without traveling to other towns.

Town President Larry Dominick highlighted the convenience of this service for the community. “It saves people time,” he said. “They don’t have to go to Bedford Park. It’s convenient, but it’s only temporary—so whoever needs a test, make sure to come.”

State Representative Lisa Hernandez emphasized the importance of making these services more accessible. “If you’ve missed your emissions test or haven’t received your vehicle sticker because of it, this is the perfect time to get it done,” she said. “Especially for our seniors—it’s right here, in your backyard.” She also praised Cicero's efforts in providing tangible benefits to its residents. “This is what good government looks like,” Hernandez added.

The testing event will occur from June 16–20 (closed on June 19) at 34th Street and Laramie Avenue, operating daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias discussed the environmental and health benefits of the event: “This is about convenience and compliance,” she said. “By working with the state, we’re helping residents meet air quality standards while also protecting the health of our community—especially our children—with cleaner air to breathe.”

The initiative was made possible through cooperation between town officials, the Cicero Police Department, and the Illinois Air Team.

Residents seeking more information are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk’s Office at (708) 656-3600 ext. 201.
