An extreme heat warning will be issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) when the heat index is expected to exceed 105°-110°F for at least two consecutive days. Once this warning is issued, Cicero will provide cooling centers for its residents during the period.

For further details, visit: https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/. Residents are also advised to check the Cicero Community High Heat Index Advisory for additional safety information.

The available cooling centers in Cicero include:

- Cicero Community Center at 2250 S. 49th Avenue, open from 8 am to 8 pm.

- Town of Cicero Municipal Building Lobby at 4949 W. Cermak Rd., open from 8 am to 8 pm.

- PSO Building at 5410 W. 34th Street, open from 8 am to 5 pm.

- Cicero Public Library at 5225 W. Cermak Rd., open from 9 am to 8 pm.

- Cicero Police Department at 4901 W. Cermak Road, open around the clock.

Residents are reminded that these facilities are intended for temporary cooling and should be used considerately as they serve their primary functions.

"El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS, por sus siglas en inglés) emitirá una advertencia de calor extremo cuando se espera que el índice de calor supere los 105 ° -110 ° F durante al menos dos días consecutivos." The same cooling centers will be available for Spanish-speaking residents with similar operational hours and considerations.
