Laughter and gratitude filled the Cicero Community Center on June 11, as the town hosted its annual Senior Father’s Day Celebration. The event aimed to honor fathers and father figures in the community.
Isabella Aguilar, Senior Center Administrative Assistant, opened the gathering by welcoming attendees and sharing the day's agenda. “Thank you to all who joined us today in celebrating Father’s Day,” she stated. Attendees enjoyed lunch, piña coladas, bingo with $15 gift cards for winners, and complimentary hair and nail services courtesy of Town President Larry Dominick and Senior Center Director Diana Dominick.
Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Town Trustee Victor Garcia, and Town Trustee Blanca Vargas attended to show support for community programs. Services were donated by Capelli Cosmetology, How to Fade Barber School, and Oak Street Health.
Aguilar expressed appreciation: “We thank President Larry Dominick and Diana Dominick for organizing these wonderful events. Thanks to their vision and commitment, it has become a beautiful tradition to honor our mothers and fathers annually.”
Diana Dominick thanked those who contributed to the celebration's success, including volunteers, the Senior Commission, school districts 99 and 201, and local businesses. She emphasized honoring not only fathers but also those who have taken on fatherly roles: “A real father’s legacy is not just in raising children—it’s in shaping character, providing strength, and leading with love.”
President Larry Dominick shared his personal reflections: “This is about celebrating all those who take on the role of a father.” He noted his years of community involvement with Little League: “I may not be a dad to everyone, but there are many who still call me Dad.”
He advised Cicero's fathers: “Be a good father. Take care of your kids, give them good advice, treat them with love—and tell them you love them.”
Town Trustee Vargas offered her own message: “To all the fathers in Cicero, I wish you the best. I hope you are happy with your families today.”
The event concluded with smiles and shared stories highlighting bonds between fathers and families.
