A new dessert shop has opened its doors in Cicero, Illinois. Dripping Sticks, located at 5001 W. Cermak Road, was officially welcomed to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials and residents. The shop offers customizable desserts, authentic Mexican chocolate, and a variety of drinks and pastries.
The event was attended by Town President Larry Dominick, Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Assessor Emo Cundari, Business License Director Ismael Vargas, Trustee Victor Garcia, and Trustee Blanca Vargas. President Dominick expressed his enthusiasm for new businesses in the area: “I love to see new businesses coming to town,” he said. “New people, different places for people to shop. That’s what we work toward—helping everyone find a place to enjoy and support locally.”
Dripping Sticks is the creation of brothers Juan and Samuel Rivas who have lived in Cicero for over a decade. Their goal was to create a space where customers can craft their own dessert combinations from an array of ingredients. Juan Rivas explained the inspiration behind their offerings: “It started with the idea that I could never find exactly what I wanted,” he said.
Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses: “Supporting small businesses like Dripping Sticks makes a big difference,” she said.
Director of Business Licenses Ismael Vargas noted the town's commitment to assisting new enterprises: “We don’t just let them figure it out alone,” he stated.
Trustee Victor Garcia emphasized the cultural significance of such establishments: “This is not just ice cream—it’s culture, it’s family, it’s community,” he remarked.
Dripping Sticks aims to expand throughout Chicagoland while maintaining its roots in Cicero.
