The Town of Cicero marked the grand opening of Romo Furniture on May 29 at its new location, 5900 W. Cermak Rd. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by town officials and the Hernandez-Romo family.

Ashley Hernandez Romo, daughter of owners Sandra Romo and Israel Hernandez, expressed gratitude to the community for their support since they first opened a store in Brighton Park over ten years ago. "Today, I’d like to take a moment to thank some of those who helped us along the way," Ashley said. "This milestone would not have been possible without the continued support of our friends and partners, especially Blanca Vargas, Ismael Vargas, and of course, President Larry Dominick."

Ismael Vargas, Director of the Business License Department, commended the family's efforts and highlighted Cicero's supportive environment for new business owners. "Our job is to guide them, not leave them alone to figure out a complicated process," he stated. "We want our business community to know that they’re supported from day one."

Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias reinforced this message by stating that Cicero aims to be business-friendly: "Your success is our success," she noted. "And we want everyone who wants to open a business here to know they’ll be guided and supported every step of the way."

Town Trustees Blanca Vargas and Victor Garcia also showed their support. “Our community needs this kind of business,” said Vargas. “We welcome Romo Furniture with open arms.” Garcia added that it benefits both Romo Furniture and Cicero by providing more options and opportunities.

Owner Israel Hernandez thanked town officials for assisting in establishing the store in Cicero: “It took us a long time to find the right spot,” he remarked. “We’re happy to be here. The support from everyone—especially Ismael—has meant everything.”

With their larger location in Cicero, the Hernandez-Romo family plans to continue serving customers well into the future. The grand opening signifies not just an achievement but also a new chapter focused on community connection and growth.
