National Public Works Week is being observed from May 18 to May 24, 2025. This annual event takes place every third week of May and aims to inform the public about the vital role of public works in their daily lives. The focus is on planning, building, managing, and operating within local communities.

This year's theme, "People, Purpose, Presence," emphasizes three fundamental principles that drive public works professionals in their service to communities. The theme underscores how meeting people's needs provides a sense of purpose for those in public works. It also highlights the constant presence of these professionals who work behind the scenes to enhance the quality of life for everyone.

The Public Works Division of the Village of Western Springs received acknowledgment for their essential and often hazardous work performed daily for the community.
