The town of Cicero is seeking input from its residents as it determines how to allocate a new influx of federal funds aimed at addressing flooding issues. Cicero has been awarded $96 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for this purpose.
As part of its Citizenship Participation Plan, the town is conducting a consultation process for its CDBG-DR Action Plan. This process is designed to incorporate community feedback into the decision-making process for the investment of these funds.
Cicero's administration is encouraging residents to participate by completing a survey before May 1, 2025. "We want the public to have a voice in how CDBG-DR funds are invested," the town's notice stated. Residents can contribute their opinions and suggestions by accessing the survey online.
This initiative highlights the importance of resident engagement in municipal planning and ensures that community development efforts are aligned with the needs and priorities of the population.
