A recent survey commissioned by the Illinois Lottery indicates that scratch-off tickets are a favored Valentine's Day gift among Illinois residents. The study focused on gifting habits and preferences of individuals aged 18 to 65 in Illinois. It revealed that a significant majority consider lottery scratch-off tickets an enjoyable and exciting present for Valentine’s Day, with 82% of men and 86% of women expressing this sentiment.

The findings suggest that scratch-off tickets offer a lasting thrill compared to traditional gifts like roses or chocolates. For those seeking an unconventional yet fun alternative, an Illinois Lottery Instant Ticket might be an ideal choice. The survey highlighted that men are nearly twice as likely as women to shop at the last minute for Valentine's Day gifts, with percentages at 15% and 8%, respectively. Scratch-off tickets can be conveniently included in cards, arranged creatively in "ticket bouquets," or given during romantic dinners.

The Illinois Lottery provides various Instant Ticket games ranging from $1 to $50, available at around 7,000 retail locations throughout the state. This year, considering giving your partner Illinois Lottery Instant Tickets could add excitement to your Valentine's celebration.

The quantitative survey was conducted between January 24 and January 31, 2025. It involved 500 participants (250 men and 250 women) who were in relationships and intended to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Since its founding in 1974, the Illinois Lottery has contributed over $25 billion to the State’s Common School Fund supporting K-12 public education since 1985. Nearly all proceeds go towards this fund. Additionally, the lottery supports other specialty causes as outlined in the Illinois Lottery Law.
