City of Northlake City Council met Nov. 18

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMAN STRAUBE

ALDERMAN FELDMANN

ALDERMAN CONTRERAS

ALDERMAN SOSA

ALDERMAN JOHNSON

ALDERMAN GROCHOWSKI

ALDERMAN PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA

OTHERS PRESENT: KEN BERES, CHIEF OF POLICE

TONY FACIANO, PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDET

CAROL LAMPARD, FINANCE DIRECTOR

KEVIN STERK, CITY ATTORNEY

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on November 4, 2024.

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on November 4, 2024; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL

MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2024 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA,

JOHNSON, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone the 2025 Budget Meeting is on Wednesday, November 20th and stated that it is generally a favorable budget and some infrastructure improvements have already started; that Winterfest is on December 6th and we will utilize the bonfire and fireworks from Boofest that were not used because of inclement weather; Alderman Patti  noted the Youth Commission craft project was very popular and well attended; Alderman Grochowski thanked Public Works for clearing the storm sewer tops of leaves and debris.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the City’s General Liability/Auto/Property Insurance; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA,

JOHNSON, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE THE CITY’S GENERAL

LIABILITY/AUTO/PROPERTY INSURANCE CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve retaining a headhunter firm to find a replacement for the Finance Director, who is retiring in March of 2025; seconded by Alderman Contreras.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA,

JOHNSON, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE RETAINING A HEADHUNTER FIRM TO FIND

A REPLACEMENT FOR THE FINANCE DIRECTOR CARRIED

A resident came forward requesting information on how to get a speed bump placed on Roberta Avenue near Hirsch. Another resident came forward to tell the city council about someone who is trying to get residents to sign a petition to have the overnight parking ban reversed.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED

MEETING ADJOURNED 7:15 P.M.
