The Brookfield Community Development Department is inviting entrepreneurs to an informational session on December 19, 2024, regarding the Brookfield Shops at Progress Park retail incubator program. The session will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Brookfield Village Hall, located at 8820 Brookfield Ave.
The program aims to assist both established businesses looking to expand and startups seeking to establish themselves in the community. Attendees will learn about retail incubators, eligibility criteria, application processes, mentorship opportunities, and future workshops. There will also be a question-and-answer segment for participants.
Brookfield Shops at Progress Park is a seasonal retail incubator running from June to December each year. It offers vendors mini-storefront spaces within Progress Park and provides business mentorship, marketing support, and other resources. Shops are open Friday through Sunday with operating hours yet to be announced.
Vendor selection involves a jury review process starting in January with jurors chosen by February. Applicants will present their business ideas in a "Shark Tank" style format before jurors select six vendors for the 2025 program. Applications require detailed business plans and product photos.
Additional information sessions will be held before applications are due, and recordings will be available for those unable to attend in person.
The mission of the program is "to support small businesses and local artisans by curating a vibrant mix of unique, high-quality products." The department encourages interested parties to prepare their applications as the link will go live soon.
