City of Northlake City Council met Oct. 7

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMAN STRAUBE

ALDERMAN FELDMANN

ALDERMAN SOSA

ALDERMAN JOHNSON

ALDERMAN URBINA

ALDERMAN GROCHOWSKI

ALDERMAN PATTI

PRESENT VIA CONFERENCE BRIDGE: ALDERMAN CONTRERAS

OTHERS PRESENT: KEN BERES, CHIEF OF POLICE

TONY FACIANO, PUBLIC WORKS

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on September 16, 2024. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on September 16, 2024; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2024 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to reappoint Manuel Ferra and William Mcadow to the Board of Police Commission; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll. All were in favor.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO REAPPOINT MANUEL FERRA AND WILLIAM MCADOW TO THE BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSION CARRIED

Police Chief Beres swore in two new police officers; Zachary Fowler and Colin Whitson.

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Sosa.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin stated the West Central Municipal Conference presented its “Greentelligence Award” to the City of Northlake at the annual dinner on September 27th. Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone about the special premier viewing on October 25th of the video celebrating the City of Northlake’s 75th Anniversary. The aldermen were reminded that the senior luncheon will be on October 24th so they should save the date. Mayor Sherwin mentioned the Annual Boofest which will be held on October 31st. There was a grand opening celebration for the Data Center T5. This is Northlake’s 5th Data Center in the city.

Alderman Feldmann made a motion to approve Resolution R-09-2024; A Resolution Authorizing the Adoption of the Update of the Cook County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-09-2024; A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADOPTION OF THE UPDATE OF THE COOK COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the sale of 2 Police Squad Cars to Triton College; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called the roil.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE THE SALE OF 2 POLICE SQUAD CARS TO TRITON COLLEGE CARRIED

A resident talked about his water bill and meter. He feels there was a mistake. Tony Faciano said he would talk to the Water Department. 

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED
