The Town of Cicero has initiated a relief fund to aid victims of the recent hurricane in Florida. Led by Town President Larry Dominick, officials have collaborated with local organizations and residents to gather funds and essential supplies for those affected.
“Cicero has always been about helping our neighbors, whether they’re here in town or across the country,” stated Dominick. “We understand what it means to face disaster, and it’s our responsibility to come together and lend a hand.”
The relief effort will continue throughout the week, featuring drop-off drives, donation stations, and community events. Proceeds will be directed to hurricane relief organizations active in Florida. The items requested include baby supplies such as wipes, diapers, formula, personal hygiene products like toothpaste and deodorant, pet food, first aid kits, trash bags, and non-perishable canned food.
Residents can donate at specified locations: Danny the Groomer at 5840 W. Cermak Rd., on October 12-13 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm; Salvation Army at 2337 S. Laramie Ave., from October 14-17 between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and on October 18 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas remarked on the community's involvement: “As a community when we hear of other communities in need, we don’t just talk about it but come together and give what we can to provide for those who are struggling. When we pray and provide for the needs of others that’s how we truly show love for our neighbor."
Board members expressed similar sentiments:
