Cook County earns national recognition at 2024 Government Experience Awards

Yesterday, the Center for Digital Government awarded Cook County third place in the 2024 Government Experience Awards, also known as the GovX Awards. This recognition highlights Cook County's commitment to providing exceptional digital services and experiences to its residents.

The GovX Awards recognize state and local government agencies that set the standard for innovation and excellence in delivering digital services. Cook County was selected for its innovative approach to resident engagement, data transparency, and user-friendly online services.

“Cook County is committed to using technology to make government more accessible and responsive to the needs of our residents,” said Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. "This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff who are constantly striving to improve digital experience for our residents."

Cook County's efforts to modernize its digital infrastructure have resulted in significant accomplishments, including:

- The launch of a new Tax Map Viewer app, which provides residents with free and transparent access to current and historical tax maps.

- The development of the first-ever Digital Equity Action Plan, which outlines a strategic framework to ensure that all Cook County residents have equitable access to the digital infrastructure, devices, and tools needed in today’s economy and society.

- The creation of an interactive budget app that allows residents to explore and understand the county's budget in a user-friendly format.
