As part of the planned 2024 Water Main Improvements Project, the Village will replace the water main along 31st Street from Maple Avenue to Sunnyside Avenue. The work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 19, with preliminary construction preparation starting later this week. The project is expected to be substantially complete by early November.

The work includes replacing 1,300 feet of water main under the sidewalk north of 31st Street between Maple and Sunnyside. The project also involves the installation of copper water services, sewer lining and repairs, and restoration of areas disturbed by construction.

There will be some impacts on traffic on 31st Street. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions throughout construction; however, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane during work hours, typically between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastbound traffic should not be impacted, though there may be times when an additional lane closure is required for safety.

Driveway access to properties on the north side of 31st Street may be restricted when the water main installation passes each driveway, but work will be backfilled with access restored at the end of each workday. When pavement restoration occurs, residents will receive a temporary closure notice at least 24 hours in advance.

All parking areas along 31st Street will remain open with minor periodic limitations.
