Congratulations to Kevin and Aida Buegel, whose front garden at 3715 Forest Ave. was chosen by the Brookfield Beautification Commission for its Garden Recognition Program for June.

For several years, the Buegels have been enhancing their property with perennial plants and other elements, creating a military-themed garden complemented by a gnome village under a cottonwood tree.

In submitting the garden for consideration, Kevin Buegel stated, "All flowers were planted by my wife and I. ... Some of the stone and landscaping are new this year. It has taken every bit of 5 years to make this the way we wanted and still working."

Along with a Garden Recognition sign, which can be displayed in their front garden, the couple received a $50 Enjoy Brookfield gift card, redeemable at businesses throughout the Village.

The Buegels' garden was selected from several nominations made by Brookfield homeowners. The Brookfield Beautification Commission will recognize more gardens for July and August. Nominations are accepted through July 31 for this month's program. To nominate your garden—only public-facing gardens are considered—fill out the Garden Recognition Program form available on the Village website.

More information about the Garden Recognition Program is available on the Beautification Commission's page on the Village website.
