The Village of Western Springs is conducting The National Community Survey™—a comprehensive quality of life survey—through the end of July. Initially, the survey was available to randomly selected residents who received a mailed invitation to participate. Until July 31, all residents can complete the survey online or using a QR code provided.
The results will assist the Village in identifying community priorities and improving the quality of life in Western Springs. The Village is collaborating with Polco, an independent consultant and civic engagement company, to implement the survey. The National Community Survey™ allows Western Springs to compare results and benchmark residents’ opinions against other similar communities nationwide.
The survey includes questions about quality of life, important community characteristics, services provided by Western Springs, and future priorities. Residents are encouraged to take a few moments to complete the survey so their opinions and concerns can be included in this process. The last citizen survey of this kind was conducted nearly ten years ago. Information about the 2015 survey and its results can be found on the Village's website.
About The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™): The NCS was among the first scientific surveys developed to gather resident opinion on a range of community issues and has been used in more than 350 jurisdictions across 46 states. It is an effective tool for surveying resident opinion and benchmarking among communities. The NCS is endorsed by the International City/County Management Association and the National League of Cities.
About Polco: Polco was developed to quickly deploy and analyze surveys online, providing agility in gathering critical information from community stakeholders nationwide. They have created tools for governments, economic development organizations, and nonprofits to measure community livability.
Residents who received a postcard invitation but have not yet submitted their feedback should use the website address or QR code on their postcard rather than completing the open survey online. Those who have already completed the survey as part of the random sample postcard mailing should not complete it again. The survey concludes on July 31.
