The Western Springs Police Department has issued a Crime Alert regarding recent bicycle thefts. The department reported an increase in such incidents over the past few weeks, urging residents to take necessary precautions.

"We have seen a noticeable uptick in bicycle thefts in various neighborhoods," said Officer John Doe. "We advise everyone to secure their bicycles with sturdy locks and, if possible, store them indoors."

The police department also recommended registering bicycles with the local authorities. This measure is intended to facilitate the recovery of stolen bikes and deter potential thieves.

"Registering your bike helps us track ownership and increases the chances of recovery if it is stolen," added Officer Doe.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police immediately. Increased patrols will be conducted in areas with high incidences of thefts.

"Our officers are committed to ensuring the safety of our community and reducing these theft incidents," stated Police Chief Jane Smith. "Community cooperation plays a crucial role in our efforts."

The Western Springs Police Department continues to investigate these thefts and seeks any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible.

For further details on bicycle registration and security tips, residents can visit the department's official website or contact their local precinct.
