The Brookfield Beautification Commission annually recognizes business owners who have enhanced the appearance of their businesses' facades and interiors with the Brookie Award. This year, on June 7, members of the Commission, including Rose Bottorf, Elaine Jans, April Hedlund, and Steve Sabourin, along with Village Board liaison Katie Kaluzny, presented framed 2023 Brookie Awards and window stickers to three businesses.

The awardees for 2023 are:

- Dr. Shikha Kapoor of Brookfield Dental Studio at 9201 Broadway Ave.

- Julie Procich and Diane Magno of Sister Squared Florist at 3741 Prairie Ave.

- Jennifer O'Desky of Pub 78 at 3733 Grand Blvd.

Dr. Kapoor and her husband Raj Kapoor utilized the Village's Property Improvement Program (PIP), which offers reimbursements of up to $20,000 for exterior improvements in TIF districts. They completed a comprehensive makeover of both the exterior and interior of their building.

Jennifer O'Desky also received a PIP grant to enhance Pub 78's exterior. The improvements included new signage compliant with local codes and folding doors that open onto Grand Boulevard during favorable weather conditions.

Julie Procich and Diane Magno transformed their storefront into a welcoming space filled with floral displays and gift items. Their efforts contribute positively to the family-owned business atmosphere on Prairie Avenue.

Congratulations were extended to all winners for their contributions to beautifying Brookfield.
