The Village of Brookfield has announced a reorganization of its front counter operations aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving resident satisfaction.

The new configuration will feature two separate counters. The Building and Inspectional Services Counter will address inquiries related to the building permit process, scheduling inspections, licensing procedures, and Code requirements. Meanwhile, the Finance Counter will manage payments for water bills, vehicle stickers, waste hauling/yard waste stickers, commuter parking passes, and permit payments.

Additionally, a new drop box for all application and plan submittals has been introduced in the Village Hall reception area. Fully completed Business License Applications, Residential and Commercial Permit Applications, and Plan Submittals should be deposited here. Incomplete applications will be returned within two business days. Complete applications will be processed with confirmation of status sent to the resident or contractor.

Permits for residential work—including masonry, windows/doors, gutters/soffit/fascia, roofing, siding, and water heaters—will be issued within two business days provided that all required documentation is submitted. Commercial permits will continue to be reviewed according to standard time frames.
